PALETTE OS CONSOLE RANGE
If you require assistance or have questions about upgrading your console, please contact your nearest
Strand Lighting Authorized Service Centre.
Verifying your current software version
At any time, you may wish to verify what software version that you are running on the console. This
can easily be done from within the Strand Lighting Palette software.
To do this, select the Help drop down on the tool bar and select About Palette. This will list the
current software versions for the User Interface, Engine and also the software version that the show
was recorded in.
Console Software installation.
1) Download the Palette3.2.0.exe software from the Strand Lighting web site and save onto a USB memory key
(a grey 128MB USB key is provided with the console for your convenience).
2) Start up your Palette software and place the USB key containing the software into the front USB port.
3) Press the Control Panel Softkey [S4] to bring up the control panel, and open up the Windows Explorer tool.
4) Select the USB Key connected to the front of the console (Normally the F: drive) and drag the
Palette3.2.0.exe file to the Public D: drive. (note: you may need to use Copy and Paste in some
cases to achieve this)
5) Navigate to the Public D: drive and verify that the software has been placed in the root of the
D: drive and not in any other location. If it is not in the correct place, repeat step 4 until it is.
6) Close the Windows Explorer application, the Console software and shutdown the console.
7) Remove the USB key from the front of the console and power up the console again.
The console will power up and detect the new software and will install the new version.
During the installation process, it is possible that the Windows Firewall that is installed by default on
the console, will give you a warning about this software. You should select OK to this warning.
Note: This warning only appears briefly on the screen of the console before the Palette OS starts.
Therefore you may not have sufficient time to press the OK button. Do not worry, this warning
will remain on the screen behind the Palette application and you can minimize or close Palette
to access it.
Off Line Editor Software installation.
1) Download the PaletteOLE3.2.0.exe software from the Strand Lighting web site and save onto your
Windows XP machine.
2) Launch the file by double clicking and follow the on screen instructions. (note you only need to
install the USB drivers, if you wish to connect the Palette USB panels to your PC.)
